3 knowings you need to know

Along my almost 12 years of being self-employed I’ve learned that the path is a winding and curvy one with lots of ups and downs.

Contrary to what social media show us, it’s far from perfect.

Today I want to share with you 3 “knowings” I know to be true along the path.

1. It’s scary. Let’s be honest here and not try to “fake the funk.” If you’re an employee yet feel the call to be self-employed, doing work that connects to your heart and soul, it’s not easy to just up and start a business. Anyone that tells you it is or makes it seem like it is, is excuse me, lying.

2. It can feel overwhelming. You read books, listen to podcasts, watch videos in hopes that you’ll take actions forward yet more than likely feel completely overwhelmed by all of the information your taking in. Unfortunately, these outlets can only go so far and too much information can actually leaving you feeling paralyzed.

3. You’re not meant to do this alone. There’s a societal tendency to celebrate the notion of, “Look at me I can do it all by myself!” It’s even a source of pride. However, community promotes purpose and fulfillment. It’s literally impossible to feel purposeful all alone! Trying to start a business without guidance, support, and like-minded people will feel like a tremendous uphill battle.

Here’s the thing, if you feel the call to be self-employed, you’re meant to follow the call . . .

When I started The Non-Nine-to-Five™ I had two clear goals: to help others do what I had been doing and to make sure they didn’t feel alone doing it.

If you know someone that wants to impact the lives of others and truly make a difference as a self-employed woman (even if she doesn’t know what her Non-Nine-to-Five purpose is meant to be yet) send me an email and CC her, so we can be introduced. If The Non-Nine-to-Five™ isn’t a match for her, no worries at all. I’m happy to refer her to someone who is.

Seeing you and those you know Successfully Self-Employed,

- Jen

P.S: Do you know a woman who wants to be successfully self-employed but is feeling scared, overwhelmed, or alone? Send me an email and CC her on it so we can connect and see if The Non-Nine-to-Five™ is a match for her!
