In the 90s I was actively using AOL (American Online) as a teenager to chat with friends, in 2002 Friendster came on the scene, followed by MySpace, and then Facebook in 2004.
Social Media at its core is designed for human beings to keep in touch and connect with friends, family, and community members.
And of course, we know social media is used in an overabundance for businesses to market their products and services.
Notice I used the word overabundance here. Social Media is in your face because quite literally your phone is in your face.
BUT what if you just don’t gel with social media? What if you’re starting your business and social media feels overwhelming, confusing, frustrating, or anxiety producing?
Do you force yourself to create a FB business page and hope for the best?
Do you tirelessly try making reels, hoping they will be seen by someone?
Do you get on TikTok and start lip singing because everyone else is?
At a speaking engagement earlier this week for a women’s networking group I spoke about a Core Non-Nine-to-Five Teaching: Lead with your Intuition.
I shared how since day one of my business, my intuition has strongly led me to speak. I feel at my best when I am intimately connecting with others via a speaking engagement whether that is live in person or virtually vs. spending hours on IG trying to get the right font, color, caption, hashtag, song, image and hope for the best.
When you lead with your intuition you connect directly with your uniqueness which then allows you to market in this way, positioning you to attract your ideal clients much more easily then spending hours doing something you don't even like to do!
Now, let me be clear - as a successfully self-employed woman you DO need to be social. Business owners must of course be seen, but wouldn’t it feel amazing to know you are being seen in the most authentic way vs. doing something because that’s what everyone else is doing?
Seeing you Successfully Self-Employed,
- Jen
P.S.: Did you know I’ve been speaking since 2014? I bring The Non-Nine-to-Five™ message everywhere. From Texas to New York City to Colorado to the UK to Canada – virtually or in person!
P.P.S: Do you know of an organization, group, club, or podcast host that I can connect with about speaking? If yes, please be so kind to email me here so we can be in touch.
