this makes my heart sink

Updated: Mar 9, 2021

Something that I hear a lot from those who say they want to be successfully self-employed but are not is, “I can do it on my own. I just have to ______.” I just have to buckle down I just have to put myself out there I just have to ask my family to help me E T C. I cannot tell you how much this makes my heart sink because it’s a form of sabotage AND massive delay. Frankly, it’s denial.

My heart really sinks deeper especially when I hear:

I’m afraid to fail

I’m afraid no one will want my product or service

I’m afraid of rejection

AND then, “BUT I can do it on my own.” This may be a hard truth to swallow but:

If you were able to just do it on your own you would have been successfully self-employed a LONG TIME AGO. On a call earlier this week a Non-Nine-to-Fiver asked me, “Why have you been working with your business coach for over 7 years?” Maybe she was thinking: "Is there something wrong with Jen? Did she not get the memo by now?" A resounding NO. George Blanda, an NFL Hall of Famer played for 26 seasons. NFL teams have 16 coaches! AND as long as you are on the team and playing the game you are being coached. And the thing is, you don’t need to be a celebrity athlete to have coaching and support in place. You simply need to be willing to invest in yourself so you can move your self-employed purpose forward. If you do want to move your self-employed purpose forward all you need to do is fill out this application to see if I might be the right coach for you. Can’t wait to hear from you, Jen P.S.: I have a total of 14 coaches in place for myself, just in case you were wondering. : ) P.P.S.: Nicole, a beloved Non-Nine-to-Fiver has this to share about coaching support:

When I started working with Jen, she immediately gave me concrete tools and structures to implement in a way that made sense for me and my business. I brought on my first few clients within just a couple of months and after just eight months, I generated more than $10,000 in my business.
