you haven't been selected

12 years ago I applied to teach at a High-Performing charter school that I was really excited about.

Part of my interview process was to teach a demo lesson to a classroom of 1st graders. The day after my demo I got an email from the interviewer saying, “We are sorry to say you haven’t been selected.” My heart sank and I was devastated. I wanted this job at this school SO BADLY. I remember sitting in my apartment in NYC wracking my brains, worrying about my next step, where I would get a job and what I would do. It was an avalanche of thoughts racing through my mind. And then I shifted. I made a VERY sharp turn and what came to me was, “Ok, they said no but they didn’t say no forever.” So I jumped to my computer and sent an email sharing what I knew went wrong, what I could have done better, and requested another demo. Here are my exact words from the 2009 email:

“I am writing to you to request a second demo. I think I may have been too focused on impressing you instead of choosing a lesson that would have let me shine. I do hope you will grant me this opportunity or at least meet with me so you can see how dedicated I am.”

After I sent the email the interviewer called me and while I can’t recall exactly how the conversation went I will never forget him saying, “We have never had someone request a second demo. You have a lot of tenacity.” And THIS . . . this is what creating successful self-employment is all about. The willingness to embody tenacity. Notice, I said WILLINGNESS. That is all you need to start, WILLINGNESS. If you are willing to be tenacious and you know you are meant for successful self-employment, I invite you to fill out an application to connect privately with me and see which of The Non-Nine-to-Five™ Programs is a match for you. Seeing you Successfully Self-Employed, Jen P.S.: OH, AND I have to share a VERY exciting success story of a High-Level Woman who I have had the pleasure of teaching how to become successfully self-employed on her tenacious Non-Nine-to-Five journey . . .

When I came to Jen and The Non-Nine-to-Five™ I was working a 9-5 job but knew deep down I was supposed to be successfully self-employed. Unfortunately, I had ZERO idea what the heck I would do or how I would do it. It makes me sad to say, but I didn’t believe in myself . . .

EVERYTHING has CHANGED over the past 4 years of working with Jen!

Just a few months into our work I started generating money from selling cookies at a local farmer’s market. AND, NOW I make 10x that from the same Farmer’s Market!

When I knew it was time to leave my 9-5 job, Jen was my teammate from start to finish. She used her keen sense of intuition to help me create a doable plan to transition out. Without Jen holding my hand and guiding me, I don’t know if I would have really had the courage to make the jump, but I have never regretted it, not for one day!

Jen has taught me easy to implement systems and processes to get my business up and running and to support its growth AND Teddy V. Patisserie has

grown SO MUCH! I began in my home kitchen and now I am about to lease my own commercial kitchen space that is all mine, we’ve added countless team members, and we are in the works of launching with Central Market, which is beyond our wildest dreams and so incredible!

If you are serious about transitioning out of your 9-5 job, are willing to admit that you don’t have all the answers, Jen will help you! As long as you have a deep knowing in your gut that this is a journey you want to go on, Jen will guide you every single step of the way and never, ever leave you. Your work with her will be invaluable.
